TRIANGLE FINAL 2007 (NOT 2008!)
There certainly was a full house at the IAC finals
competition at Rayleigh in Essex,
which I would have conservatively estimated at
approximately 100 people attending.
The three finalist clubs had great support from
their respective members, with attendance from
Harrow, Westcliff on Sea and Hemel Hempstead.
All, in good spirits, crowded into a some what
undersized gym at a local primary school for an
afternoon of entertainment.
The seats, according to my paining posterior, were
not of an adequate substance but I have to confess
the films were. Each film was marked by the three
judges and their honest and well noted comments
about each, good and bad, were relayed to the
audience and of course the individual film makers at
the end of each section of the competition.
This leads to all sorts of assumed speculation as to
the possible outcomes from film club members and their
makers alike, which I might add are more than usually
very wrong. This I think personally is a subtle subterfuge
of the judges to throw us of of any scent that may be
lingering our way.
As an aside, Peter Gray was reliable informed by members
of Luton club that their younger members thoroughly
enjoyed his last film, Pscosis, which also helped Hemel
Hempstead, along with Brian Harris film, a fine documentary
called The Rex into a very acceptable, if not just a little,
tiny disappointing second place.
Although our hats have to come off to Westcliff on Sea
achieving what an adjudicator said was the unprecedented
success of winning in all three section of a final, which had
not been notably achieved before.
Well done Westcliff, Congratulations!
Hemel Hempstead C'mon guy's we have got to get our fingers
out and try again for what Westcliff hasn't quite achieved, nine
points on every line of next years competition sections. Which
is a clear 11 points more than we obtained this year. No mean
task, but if were determined enough and work as a team........obtainable.
